DIAGNOSTICS
Modern cars are run by computers. When one of them sees something outside its normal range, it stores a fault code and, if the fault matters, turns on a warning light. Computerized diagnostics reads those codes through the OBD port under the dashboard and shows which system reported the problem: engine, ABS, airbag, gearbox, or the hybrid or EV system.
A scan is the start of the job, not the end. Our mechanics follow it with tests on the related parts, because a fault code usually points to a circuit or a system, not automatically to a broken component. A scan can also show live sensor data and the conditions at the moment a fault was stored, which helps with problems that come and go.
LOCAL KNOW-HOW
Service advice written for other climates does not always fit Lahore. This calendar follows what the city does to cars through the year. Months are a guide, and your owner's manual comes first.
Test the battery, check the coolant level and mix, check how well the AC cools, and look over the tyres and cooling fans. Heat is hard on batteries and cooling systems, and PakWheels' post-winter checklist makes the same point.
After driving through standing water, check the brakes, the underbody and electrical connectors, and replace worn wiper blades. If water may have entered the engine, do not restart it. Have it checked first.
Replace cabin and air filters when due, check headlights and wipers for poor visibility, and use the AC's recirculation mode in heavy smog if your car has it.
A weak battery shows up first on cold mornings, so test it before it strands you. Check tyre pressure when the temperature drops, because pressure falls with the cold.

Scan it first. Clearing a fault code switches the light off but does not fix the cause, so the code usually comes back. If the light is flashing, slow down and have the car checked soon, because a flashing light often points to a misfire that can damage other parts.

An inspection supports your decision, but it cannot promise that every possible fault will be found.
Follow the schedule in your owner's manual, because it is written for your exact engine. If you drive mostly in heavy traffic, on short trips or in dusty conditions, use the manual's severe-use schedule if it has one and change filters earlier. Hybrids and EVs have their own intervals, so do not copy a petrol schedule.
It depends on the car, the climate and how it is used, so there is no single number. Makers set the warranty: Toyota Pakistan, for example, advertised 6 years or 160,000 km for the Corolla Cross hybrid battery at launch. Check your warranty book for the terms, and ask for a battery health check on any used hybrid or EV.
